Have you ever thought about supporting people with a learning disability to be empowered and in control of their own lives?

Being a support worker at Thera is all about improving people's quality of life and helping them to be totally in the driving seat when it comes to planning and living their lives to the full.

We are looking for Support Workers(Complex needs) to join our teams in the Balderton area.

As part of our supported living team in Thera East Midlands, you'll be working with people & their circles of support to live safely and independently in their own homes.

You must have experience and a genuine interest in supporting people with learning disability and be able to clearly differentiate between care and support: the emphasis is on enabling people to do things for themselves, not doing things for them.

Your role will be varied and you will be supporting people with all aspects of daily living. This might include supporting them with shopping, preparing meals, looking after their home, socialising, going on holiday as well as being a positive role model in their lives.

We know this is a challenging role, so we are hoping to find resilient people who have the willingness to support people at complex times and during times of distress and can see this as more than job - this is a chance to make a real difference, that will not only enrich someone else's life but also yours.

This can be very rewarding, however as you would naturally expect there are inevitably some difficult and challenging situations. You need to be the sort of person that can take things in their stride, remain calm and be confident in dealing with them appropriately.

We can and do provide comprehensive induction and ongoing training with the opportunity to complete recognised social care qualifications.

Drivers are required!

You will need to be flexible and be able to work various shift patterns including early and late shifts and sleep-ins.
